About Amelia

My approach is person-centred, which means this is your space, and together we will work at a pace and in a way that feels right for you. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to offer a supportive, compassionate, and collaborative relationship in which you can explore whatever brings you to therapy.

As a pluralistic counsellor, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches rather than following one model rigidly. This allows us to tailor our work to your individual needs. At times, it may feel important to explore your past, childhood experiences, family relationships, and the stories that have shaped who you are. Drawing on psychodynamic ideas, we can gently uncover patterns that may still be influencing your life today.

At other times, you may be looking for practical ways to cope with anxiety, low mood, difficult relationships, or life's everyday challenges. In these moments, I can draw on CBT-informed tools and strategies to help you build resilience and create meaningful change in the present.

Alongside my counselling training, I am also a qualified yoga teacher. This has deepened my understanding of the connection between mind and body, and where appropriate I may incorporate simple awareness practices, breathing techniques, or discussions around nervous system regulation into our work.

I hold an MA in Gender Studies and have trained in counselling and psychotherapy for more than six years, with experience supporting clients across a wide range of issues. My background has given me a particular interest in how family, culture, relationships, gender, and wider social systems can shape our experiences of ourselves and the world around us.

Whether you are navigating a specific challenge, feeling stuck in recurring patterns, or simply seeking a space to understand yourself more deeply, therapy can offer an opportunity for reflection, growth, and change. My aim is to help you develop greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and confidence in your ability to navigate life's complexities.

Therapy doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes, meaningful change begins simply with having the space to be heard.
